The crowd looked on then followed on two steps behind the clown “Please read more rhymes to feed our minds” he turned and gave a frown “I have no more” – a lie for sure or just another scam His eyes looked down toward the ground then once again began “You’ll never hear me tell a lie and truths are not my thing” “I always walk the line between the best of both I bring!” His fingers flicked the page again and quickly found his place he read – then stopped and looked about a smile crept on his face “Yesterday – we called today tomorrow ‘fore it came and when it finally got here, then we changed the name again!” “Last week had seven yesterdays and all were called today and all were called tomorrow ‘fore we called it all a day!” “Last month was once a fortnight hence last week was just the same” “Next year was once a decade off and will be soon again!” “You see, to me – you must agree a week a month a year
The Clown and the Rhyme (act 2)
is just today – and every day I hope I’ve made it clear!” “So please be wise – don’t criticize hold on – no time to wait. Just seize today and every day
before it is too late!” A pause – “Go on” – “Goodnight” he said
“this clown has spent his time” And off he went to contemplate another silly rhyme.
