poems from the sky

The Heroin

I awake to pain's embrace The cold and rain upon my face Beg on corners, trade my pride Lie for cash, where shadows hide Brownish powder, syringe and vein Tighten grip, a dance of pain a silent sting, a desperate plea I hate the hit, that sets me free Leave the world, my endless struggles Drift to dreamland, leave my troubles the warm embrace my friend so true golden beaches, sky’s so blue My happy place, I soar, I fly Where troubles fade, and worries die I awake to pain's embrace The cold and rain upon my face As dawn arrives, so cold and stark misery returns, to make its mark

Back to corners, beg to score A cycle that repeats once more in darkened alleys where I hide my only way to stay alive
